Carried away by beastmen slavers, Idima finds herself bound to a centaur and dragged into the dark forests of the Drae, her village and all she's known shrinking behind her.
Plunged into a foreign world of vile magic and monstrosities, Idima is forced to rely on her captor—the beast who's people have hunted and enslaved her own for millenia—but will life as a slave or a beastman's pet ever be worth living again? Or would it be better to face death in the woods, even if it meant crawling home on her knees?
But when her enemy's life falls into her hands, crippled and at her mercy, and a chance for freedom lies within her grasp, will she take it at the beast's expense? Is one act of humanity enough to overcome a past of strife? And even if it was, could a frail, young woman be enough to secure their future?

Idima lives in a small village on the border of Den Tizha- Holy Land of the mudim- and the Drae, the dark forest separating them from Dryad territory. Twenty-two and on her own, life is not devoid of difficulties as Idima was born crippled. But with the help of crutches and a free spirit, she leads an independent life in the face of prejudice.

The centaur is from Ahk Morden, east of the Drae Mountains, and needless to say is a long way from home as he raids mudim villages with his battalion.

The half-mud is a slave caught between two worlds, too manlike for one and too beastly for the other, he is an outcast wherever he goes.
